1. General questions
1.1. Which tools can I put into workflows to run on GCE?
Most workflow-enabled tools in the CLC Genomics Workbench can be used in workflows that are designed to run on the CLC Genomics Cloud Engine.
There are, however, exceptions. Key exceptions include:
- Tools provided by the CLC Microbial Genomics Module involving Result Metadata Tables.
- Tools that modify input data directly.
- Tools configured as External Applications.

2.1. Why does CloudFormation fail during GCE deployment saying "Cannot create a -instance-type- Multi-AZ instance..."?
The error "Cannot create a <instance type> Multi-AZ instance..." arises when the instance type named in the message is not supported in the availability zone being used. In this situation, CloudFormation fails during GCE deployment, producing this error message.
If you see this error, please contact AWS support and ask them to investigate why the instance type in the message is not present in all availability zones in the region you are deploying onto.
